One person dead after shooting in Irondequoit

TWC News

One person was shot and killed and another person wounded in a double shooting Friday on East Ridge Road in Irondequoit.

Officers were called to a busy roadway near Hudson Avenue before 3 p.m. Friday.

One eyewitness told Time Warner Cable News said he heard about 15 gunshots from the direction of the auto shop and the church across the street, then heard screeching tires.

The Irondequoit Police Chief told the D&C  that it involved a shootout between two vehicles.

One of the vehicles ended up in the lot at Mavis Discount Tire.  Police say it appeared the driver of the van, who sustained a non life-threatening injury, pulled in there after he was shot. A passenger in the van was killed.

On Saturday, Irondequoit Police said that a black SUV type vehicle may have been involved in the incident.  Anyone with information regarding this vehicle or the incident is urged to call 911 immediately and request an Irondequoit Supervisor.

Police did not release the names of either victim, pending notification of family.
