A Penfield golf course is being sold. Shadow Lake Golf and Racquet Club will by sold to Fritz Odenbach, the Senior Vice President of The Dolomite Group, and Gary Haseley, a former owner and CEO of Zeller Corporation.
Shadow Lake was founded in 1979 and is one of three golf facilities along with Shadow Pines and Greystone Golf Club that were developed and operated by The Dolomite Group.
Dolomite sold its quarries and golf courses in 2002 to a company based in Ireland, but continued to operate under its original name.
The future of Shadow Lake, along with Shadow Pines have been a hot topic in Penfield since word came that they were up for sale, and that at least one developer was asking about possible residential development of the Shadow Pines property.
Town officials and some residents expressed concerns about the impact on things like traffic, utilities and public safety.
Shadow Lake is a public golf course on 210 acres in Penfield. The owners say that golf course and clubhouse improvements are planned for the facility and they expect the purchase to close next month.
