Fire Destroys Historic E. Rochester Building

TWC News

Smoke filled the sky late Monday afternoon in East Rochester, after a large building near the railroad tracks caught fire.

Crews from several departments responded to Station Road around 5 p.m. Monday.

Reports are that it was at East Rochester’s historic railway station, Despatch Junction, which most recently was a business that sells model trains.

The building was the first rail depot in town and was built in 1884. The store was closed for the holiday and no injuries were reported.  There's no word yet what started the fire.
