Fatal Crash On The Thruway In Farmington

TWC News

State Police say that a woman died but her young child survived after a crash on the Thruway near the Manchester exit on Friday.

It happened just before Noon on the Thruway Westbound in the Town of Farmington.

Troopers say a car driven by 31 year old Deborah McDonald of Rochester  was traveling east on the highway when her vehicle left the roadway, crossed the center median and traveled into the westbound lanes where it was struck by a tractor trailer.

McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter, who is about 5 years old, had only minor injuries and was treated at Strong Hospital.

The driver of the truck, a 45 year old Rochester man was not injured, and he was not charged.

The accident slowed traffic for  a few hours in that area.
