A new survey by Siena College in New York State, Roanoke College in Virginia and Rutgers University in New Jersey shows that a majority of voters in all three states have a favorable view of Hillary Clinton when asked who they would most like to see as the next president.
Clinton tops New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Senator Rand Paul and Congressman Paul Ryan in the three states. Clinton even comes out ahead of Christie in his home state, leading him by 10 points.
Voters in the three states also support 7 of the 12 national initiatives they were asked about, including raising the national minimum wage, legalizing marijuana for medical purposes and establishing a national gun registry.
The director of the Rutgers-Eagleton poll says despite all of the attention on how voters differ across various states, there is more agreement than not in these three states on seven current issues.
Another point of agreement across the three states is that voters say that the country is headed in the wrong direction. The survey also shows the voters in the three states are deeply divided on some issues including the Affordable Care Act, the role of government, and abortion.
