Rochester Institute of Technology issued a campus alert Friday morning after a report that a person with a rifle was spotted on campus. It turned out to be a student carrying an umbrella with a Samurai sword handle according to the school's news service.
Monroe County Sheriff's deputies responded to the campus to investigate after a bus driver reported seeing what appeared to be a gun. Officers were able to find the person in question and determine there was no threat.
