Rochester's Party in the Park is moving back to its original venue: The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park at Manhattan Square.
The concert event began in 1997 at Manhattan Square and remained there until 2004 when it moved to the High Falls Festival Site. In 2008, the event relocated to the Riverside Festival Site at the corner of Exchange Boulevard and Court Street.
Mayor Lovely Warren says the city is reacting to comments from the public in bringing it back to Manhattan Square. It will be located near Court Street and festival goers will be encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on the grass. There will also be food trucks, artists and other activities.
Party in the Park will run on Thursdays from June 19 through August 14. The performers will be announced in early May.
