Officers Involved in City Shooting

A Rochester man was in guarded condition after a shooting incident with police last night.

Police Chief James Sheppard says a store employee flagged down two officers on Bay Street in Rochester Sunday night.

Police then engaged two men and one of the officers, Cody Goodfriend, discovered a sawed off shotgun on Tyshawn Johnson.

Johnson broke free of the officers, and allegedly displayed the gun during the foot chase.

Officer Goodfriend then shot Johnson in the lower back.

Johnson was taken to Strong with what police say are non life-threatening injuries.

Officer Goodfriend is on administrative duty during the investigation, which continues.
