St. John Fisher President Donald Bain To Retire

Officials at St. John Fisher College say that Donald Bain has announced his plans to retie from presidency of the school in 2015.  

That retirement will mark a 40 year career at Fisher. Bain Became president in 2004. He started at the college in 1975 as a history professor, and has held several administrative posts with Fisher.

During his tenure as president, Bain led Fisher through an academic reorganization as well as a capital campaign which raised over $52 million and funded the creation of the Wegmans Schools of Pharmacy and Nursing.

The Board of Trustees will form a search committee in September, with the expectation that a new president will be in place by the summer of next year.

Before retiring in March 2025, Randy Gorbman was WXXI's director of news and public affairs and managed the day-to-day operations of WXXI News on radio, television, and online.
