Klein Steel has cut the ribbon on a new 40,000-square-foot facility dedicated to advanced steel processing and manufacturing.
A former Ragu factory is now home to a new advanced manufacturing plant for Klein Steel.
Officials cut the ribbon on the facility today.
Klein President and CEO Todd Zyra says the state-of-the-art facility features advanced automation, and it’s also digital, high-tech and intelligent.
“You know we have photonics coming, but this is advanced manufacturing with steel, so it’s higher technology, that helps with everything because this will allow us to better support our customers," he says. "Customers are the companies in the area that need this steel in the most low-cost manner, highest-quality manner possible, so they can compete globally.”
Zrya says this will also create jobs.
He notes this marks a new era of steel service and signals a major new opportunity for Klein’s customers, its team members and the communities it serves.
Zyra says the project has received assistance from the city, the county, RG&E, Greater Rochester Enterprise, the Chamber of Commerce and from Empire State Development, which provided support valued at up to $750,000.
