The leader of the business group Unshackle Upstate is moving on. Brian Sampson has been hired as the new president of The Empire State Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors. That group represents about 400 contractors and affiliate members across the state.
Sampson has been executive director of Unshackle Upstate since 2009. Prior to that he worked for Empire State Development, the state's economic development agency.
Sampson will continue to work at Unshackle Upstate until October 13. There is now a search going on for his successor.
Unshackle Upstate is a regional organization and Sampson has been based in Rochester.
