For the second day in a row, Monroe County recorded its highest yet increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
About one-sixth of the total known cases in the county were identified Wednesday alone as the total increased by 59.
Because of limited testing capacity, the numbers remain an undercount of the true prevalence of the disease in the county. Some samples take days to return results.
The new cases include nine people in their 20s and 13 people who are 70 or older.
More than two dozen people were being treated in intensive care units.
