Recently returned from Italy, Cornell students, faculty and staff in quarantine

Cornell University

Some Cornell University students, faculty and staff are under quarantine.

After recently returning from Italy, they’re under observation for symptoms of COVID-19.

Earlier this week, university officials announced the suspension of its Architecture, Art and Planning program in Rome. Everyone returning to the United States must go into a 14-day quarantine.

The decision comes after the federal Centers for Disease Control expanded travel guidelines to certain countries, including Italy.

University officials would not say how many people are quarantined or when they returned to the country. They did say nurses from the Tompkins County Health Department are checking them daily. The Health Department would not confirm that.

Some of the travelers will serve out their quarantine off-campus at an undisclosed location in Ithaca. Others will stay at their own homes or with family.
