First hour: Discussing socialism
Second hour: Previewing the 2018 ROC Tech Conference
Socialism is having a moment, and if its adherents are successful, it will be more than just a moment. Many American students are taught that socialism is more idealistic than viable, and in practice, it tends to be corrupted. But among others, the Democratic Socialists of America contend that we’re missing both the history and potential of socialism. So how do they explain what it is, and how it would work in practice? Our guests:
- Lyle Rubin, founder of the Rochester chapter of the DSA
- Michelle Sapere, member of the International Socialist Organization
The future of the local economy will strongly feature the tech sector. So what does it look like in Rochester and the Finger Lakes? The Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce has put together a regional tech conference, and it will include the following themes: clean technology; diversity in the workforce; millennials in tech; making a start-up successful; and more. We preview the conference with our guests:
- Justin Copie, owner and CEO of Innovative Solutions
- Kevin Schulte, CEO of GreenSpark Energy
- Yasmin Mattox, founder of Arkatecht, LLC
