Greenlight Networks ramps up internet speeds

Greenlight Networks, the relatively new local provider of high speed internet service in the Rochester area, says it is launching the area’s fastest residential internet service that is twice as fast as its current gigabit internet service.

The company, which is backed by philanthropist and Paychex founder Tom Golisano, has also increased speeds for its standard service by 500%.

Greenlight President & CEO Mark Murphy says that with more consumers looking for alternatives to traditional cable, the additional bandwidth will give them the ability to connect more devices in their homes.

Greenlight says that its residential customers have not seen a price increase since it launched service in 2011.  Current customers will receive the speed increases automatically.

Greenlight’s internet packages range from $50 a month to $200 per month.

The company has ramped up its expansion plans in the Rochester area after this year’s investment by Golisano.
