There was a big crowd on hand Tuesday for one of this area’s biggest July 4th parades.
When it comes to the July 4th holiday, Irondequoit residents like to think they do it up better than most places, and they may be right; at least in terms of the variety of activities they spread out over two days, mainly centering on the town hall campus.
The parade along Titus Avenue is one of the main attractions, and among the people lined up along the route, Debbie Guetti, who noted children certainly appreciate the candy thrown by some of the people in the parade, but she says it’s important to remember why we celebrate Independence Day.
“The kids love the candy and everything but I think they forget the meaning of the actual holiday. It should be a celebration of the country and everything.”
Tony Rizzo says a big July 4th parade is an important tradition in Irondequoit.
“Great community, great parade, and a lot of nice people that you never met; you care about our veterans and you care about our country, and things like that,” he told WXXI News.
The marching groups that included veterans brought the biggest cheers among the spectators for this Irondequoit July 4th parade.
