With early Sunday morning temperatures hovering near 40 degrees, it helped make for a cool, but fast race for a lot of runners at this year's Unity Health System Rochester Flower City Challenge Half Marathon.
More than 2500 runners took to the streets of downtown, starting at the War Memorial at the Blue Cross Arena and continuing through the East Ave/Park Ave neighborhood, the Genesee River bike path near Elmwood Avenue and other city streets.
The overall winner is Kip Tisia, winning his third straight Flower City Challenge with a time of 1:07:34. He was eight minutes ahead of his closest competitor.
The top women's finisher is Karen Blodgett of Fairport, with a time of 1:21:31.
More than a thousand runners also took part in the Wegmans Family 5k race. The weekend's activities also included a duathlon and triathlon.
