FORT DRUM (AP) Military officials say a dummy missile lost during a flight by an Army helicopter has been found in a farmer's field in northern New York.

Officials at Fort Drum say Tuesday that a farmer was mowing a field in the town of Martinsburg last Friday when he spotted the object and recognized it as the non-explosive missile reported lost a week earlier by the crew of an Apache AH-64 helicopter.

The aircraft from the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade of the 10th Mountain Division was headed to Stewart International Airport in the Hudson Valley when it lost the M36 Captive Flight Training Missile, a 100-pound steel casing used to simulate the weight of a missile during flight.

Fort Drum officials recovered the missile and returned it to the post about 15 miles north of Martinsburg.
