12:00: 'Connections on the Road:' How to create healthier neighborhoods for everyone

1:00: 'Connections Summer Sessions:' Small but mighty Keuka Lake

We welcome a live audience as we bring the show to Ibero-American Action League's Community Resource Center, located in the El Camino neighborhood of Rochester. Residents say they have concerns about poverty, drug use, and homelessness, and some neighborhood children don't like to play outside anymore. We talk to a neighbor and local leaders about what it will take to change that, and about how neighborhoods thrive or suffer based on resources and funding. We welcome comments from the live audience as well. Our guests:

  • Angelica Perez-Delgado, president and CEO of Ibero-American Action League
  • Ramona Colon, resident of the El Camino neighborhood
  • Maria Garcia, marketplace bilingual facilitated enroller for Excellus BlueCross BlueShield

"Connections Summer Sessions" continues with a tour of the Finger Lakes. In this special rebroadcast, we take a trip to a place that’s a little less traveled, a little less hyped... but that's part of what people say makes it magical. Keuka Lake is known as the "Crooked Lake" for its unusual Y shape, and it's the only lake in the country that flows both north and south. It’s ringed by small, proud communities — Penn Yan, Hammondsport, and Branchport — each with their own stories. Our guests:

  • Sam Crastner, metalwork artist at Ironvine Studios LLC
  • Angela Mattoon, office manager for Weis Vineyards
  • Tricia Noel, executive director/curator of the Yates County History Center
  • Kyle Anne Pallischeck, director of programs for the New York State Wine and Grape Foundation

"Connections" is livestreamed each day on the WXXI News YouTube channel. Watch here.
