The return to a more typical January weather pattern of bitter cold and snow continues on Thursday in the Rochester area and much of upstate New York.
In the Rochester metro, about 4 - 6 inches of snow fell overnight from Wednesday into Thursday and News 8 meteorologist Josh Nichols says expect another 1 to 4 inches of snow during the day on Thursday, especially from Rochester south and east.
Higher totals are possible in Wayne County with another 6 inches of snow possible.
There is still a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for counties including Monroe, Livingston, Ontario, Genesee and Orleans until 7pm on Thursday, and a Winter Storm Warning for Wayne and Wyoming until early Thursday evening.
Strong winds will blow the snow around through much of the region, which could cause visibility issues for drivers. The high Thursday will be in the mid 20s, with wind chills in the single digits at times.
Winds gradually diminish Thursday night with a low of 11, and Friday will see cold weather, with a few flurries, and a high near 21.
Temperatures remain in the 20s over the weekend.
