Leaders of the New York League of Women Voters have seen proposals for redrawing the district maps for the New York State Legislature in this fall's elections and they don't like them.
The League's Rochester area chapter president Katharine Smith will be testifying before the legislature's own Legislative Task Force on Reapportionment on February 15.
She says a big problem is how uneven and unequal the population of the proposed districts are.
Smith says her organization is part of a coalition of more than three dozen community organizations statewide who are researching the issue, and calling for more equally-populated districts that respect community interests.
