Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo has named a new assistant county executive, and the name is familiar. William Napier has been named to the new post, while Brett Walsh has been appointed to the director of communications role.

Napier replaces Justin Roj, who resigned earlier this year following the COMIDA/I-Square controversy.

Napier was the county's director of communications and this will be the second time he will serve as assistant county executive. The first was during the administration of former County Executive Maggie Brooks.

“I'm delighted that Bill Napier has accepted new and expanded responsibilities and is helping manage day-to-day operations as assistant county executive,” Dinolfo said in a statement.  “Bill’s combined experience at the county and federal level is invaluable so, in addition to becoming assistant county executive, I’m pleased he will continue to serve residents as a legislative and policy advisor.”

Walsh will focus on improving the flow of information between the county and the media and constituents. He will also be the county's records access officer, in charge of maintaining public access to county records and Freedom of Information requests.
