Statements on Larry and Jane Glazer

Here are statements of condolence regarding the death of Larry and Jane Glazer:

Governor Andrew Cuomo:

“I join the residents of Rochester during this difficult week in mourning the loss of Larry and Jane Glazer in today’s tragic plane crash. The Glazers were innovative and generous people who were committed to revitalizing downtown Rochester and making the city they loved a better place for all. I offer my deepest condolences to the Glazers’ family and friends during this difficult and trying time.”

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren and City Council President Loretta Scott:

"The City of Rochester has lost two heroes.  Just as we are struggling to cope with the tragic loss of Officer Daryl Pierson, we are shocked to learn of the death of the father of Downtown Development, Larry Glazer and his wife Jane.

"It is difficult to put into words how much Larry Glazer has meant to our community.   Larry worked hard to return a sense of vitality and excitement to our Center City.   His efforts helped to lift our spirits and restore our sense of optimism.  He has been a  treasured friend and partner.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Glazer family, the partners and employees of Buckingham Properties, and all of Larry's many friends.

"The City of Rochester's flags will remain at half-staff in memory of both Officer Daryl Pierson and  Larry Glazer, CEO and Managing Partner of Buckingham Properties."

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter:

“Larry Glazer and his wife Jane were synonymous with Rochester,” Rep. Slaughter said. “They were critical partners in rebuilding and revitalizing our region, and losing two friends who were so involved in their community and so generous is a profound blow to us all. They will be sorely missed, and my thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends as we join in their bereavement.”

Nazareth College President Daan Braveman:

“I am devastated by the loss of Larry and Jane Glazer. They are personal friends as well as leaders in our community. Jane is a Nazareth alumna, an  active member of the Board of Trustees, and a very successful business woman.  Larry is a visionary leader of the business community with unmatched passion for building a better Rochester for all our residents. And both of them are extraordinarily generous  with their time and resources, supporting a range of activities in the community. This is such a tremendous loss for me, for Nazareth College, for all of Rochester. My thoughts and prayers go out to their family.”

State Senator Joe Robach:

“I am saddened to hear of the sudden and unfortunate deaths of my friends Larry and Jane Glazer, my thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends. Larry was one of the true pillars of our community, and a tireless advocate and business leader for the Rochester community. Larry will forever be remembered as an innovative thinker, with his unique vision for rebuilding Downtown Rochester, and his numerous philanthropic contributions to so many organizations. The Rochester community is a better place because of Larry and Jane Glazer.”

State Senator Ted O’Brien:

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Glazer family during this tragic time. Larry and Jane Glazer were pillars of the Greater Rochester community. We all feel such a profound sense of loss in the wake of this terrible news. Larry’s unparalleled commitment to rebuilding downtown Rochester gave all of us so much hope for a better future. The loss of Larry and Jane will be felt for many years to come.”

State Assembly Majority Leader Joe Morelle:

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of a longtime personal friends, Larry and Jane Glazer.  The Glazer’s believed in the full potential of Rochester and their passion for our community was always on display – whether through their unrivaled commitment to the rebirth of downtown or through their many philanthropic and charitable activities. Larry and Jane exemplified a model of community stewardship. Their presence will forever be felt throughout Rochester, a community they loved, fought tirelessly for, and called home. Larry and Jane will always hold a special place in all of our hearts. I extend my deepest sympathies to the Glazer family during this difficult time.”

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer:

“I was just with Larry a few months ago pushing for funding to re-develop and re-imagine East Main Street, and, as usual, his enthusiasm for the future of Rochester shone through. It deeply saddens me that Rochester has now lost two of its most indomitable, industrious visionaries, Larry and Jane Glazer.  Together, both Larry and Jane were among the biggest believers and champions in Rochester’s future and because of them, their hometown is a better place. It is a massive and heartbreaking loss for this community, and my thoughts and prayers are with their family and all who knew and loved the Glazers.”

Lieutenant Governor Robert J. Duffy

"I have known Larry and Jane Glazer for many years and have immense respect for them both. The Glazers possessed two of the brightest minds in business. Their business acumen was only matched by their integrity, philanthropy and community spirit. Larry did more for developing downtown Rochester than anyone I know, and Jane was set to be inducted into the business hall of fame. They cannot be replaced. My thoughts and prayers are with the Glazer family as they navigate this difficult time."

Junior Achievement President & CEO Patricia Leva

“Junior Achievement is greatly saddened by the sudden passing of Jane and Larry Glazer. Jane was selected as a 2014 Rochester Business Hall of Fame honoree in recognition of her tremendous business accomplishments and support for the community. Under her leadership, QCI Direct has grown to be a nationally-recognized retailer that provides employment for many local residents. Jane was a source of inspiration to current and future business leaders and entrepreneurs alike. Both Jane and her husband Larry, also a Rochester Business Hall of Fame laureate, will be deeply missed.”
