A total of 10,236 runners and walkers from 402 companies took part in Tuesday night’s J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge at RIT.

It’s a 3.5 mile road race, and companies got their workers together in more than 300 hospitality tents located around the RIT campus.

The first-place men’s finisher was Matt Pierce, representing Pictometry, with a time of 18:07 over the campus course.

Morgan Burrows of Corning successfully defended her women’s individual title finishing with a time of 20:58.

Although it is a road race, the challenge  has always been more of a team-building event for various companies and organizations.

The largest companies in terms of participation included: Wegmans (771 entrants), University of Rochester (490 entrants), and Paychex (382).

A donation was made by J.P. Morgan on behalf of the Corporate Challenge participants to IACKids, which provides financial support to families in Monroe County that are struggling with bills while their child is admitted to the Golisano Children’s Hospital.
