The weekend weather for the Rochester area and much of upstate NY will see quite a bit of precipitation, starting as rain and ending as wet snow.

There is a Winter Weather Advisory for counties including: Monroe, Ontario, Livingston and Genesee, from Saturday afternoon until midnight.

The forecast calls for rain on Saturday with a high of 40, but that precipitation will change to some snow by evening, and there could be a total of 3 to 5 inches of accumulation in some areas by Sunday. It will also be windy on Sunday with wind gusts approaching 40 miles an hour.

There is a Winter Storm Warning for Wyoming County, with 6 to 12 inches of snow possible by Sunday.

Otherwise, the forecast for the coming week calls for some bitterly cold weather later in the week, and a chance of snow each day through at least Wednesday.
