State Police have released more information about an accident involving a tractor trailer that resulted in two deaths, and closed off traffic near Route 104 and Hudson Ave. in Rochester on Friday morning.
Troopers say the truck driver, 58 year old Tracy Premo of Palmyra, died in the crash. He was driving east on Route 104 when police say for some unknown reason, the truck left the road and went down an embankment.
The truck then continued on an access road striking a pole at Hudson Avenue and then hit a pedestrian working in the area.
That pedestrian, 30 year old Jeffrey Farrell, was a Monroe County employee from Rochester, and he was working on a storm drain when he was struck and killed.
A car on Hudson was struck, but that driver was not seriously hurt, and another vehicle, a box truck, was also involved, but the driver was not injured.
Kenneth Johnson, the CEO of Leonard’s Express, the company that operated the tractor trailer, issued a statement saying they are deeply saddened by the loss of one of its drivers and the other person killed in the accident. He said, “our hearts are broken,” and Johnson said their thoughts and prayers go out to their colleague and his family and friends and he says the company shares condolences with everyone affected.
Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo issued a statement saying that she met with Farrell’s family and asked everyone to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers.
