New York state and local officials, along with representatives from flexible packaging manufacturer ProAmpac took the wraps off an expansion project at the company’s plant in Ogden on Wednesday.

As WXXI News reported last September, ProAmpac is building a 25,000 square-foot addition to its existing facility on Manitou Road. The Expansion will create up to 40 new jobs.

The Collaboration & Innovation Center will focus on packaging development and design and will also host regional and global packaged goods companies and vendors for events and training.

Cincinnati-based ProAmpac is investing $8 million in the center.

Empire State Development is providing a $350,000 capital grant and up to $1 million through the Excelsior Jobs program in exchange for the job creation commitment.

The New York Power Authority is helping with low-cost power and there is also assistance from Monroe County and Greater Rochester Enterprise.

Cincinnati-based ProAmpac has more than 5,800 employees in 90 countries.

Before retiring in March 2025, Randy Gorbman was WXXI's director of news and public affairs and managed the day-to-day operations of WXXI News on radio, television, and online.
