Monroe County reports 201 new cases of COVID-19

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Monroe County on Friday reported another 201 cases of COVID-19.  The seven-day average of new cases is 167.

The seven-day average positivity rate is at 4.1%.

In the Finger Lakes region, 183 people were hospitalized with COVID-19, with 53 people in the ICU.

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello and Commissioner of Public Health Dr. Michael Mendoza issued a joint statement, asking county residents to keep health and safety in mind as they celebrate for the long holiday weekend.

The officials say that as much as possible, stay outdoors when you are with people outside your own household. And if you have to go indoors and are unable to maintain physical distance, they suggest you wear masks – even if you are fully vaccinated.

Bello and Mendoza say these steps are especially important as students head back into the classroom while the COVID-19 community transmission rate remains at a high level.
