Memorial Art Gallery announces admission benefit for SNAP recipients

The Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester is now offering free museum admission, for up to four people, with the presentation of a SNAP benefits card.

The museum says that the SNAP benefit is the newest addition to the MAG’s free public offerings to encourage all members of the community to experience the museum.

In 2016, MAG introduced MAGconnect, which is a program that offers free transportation, complimentary admission, and a one-year MAG membership to people with limited financial means.

“Making MAG accessible to the broadest possible audience has always been a priority,” said Museum Director Jonathan Binstock. “Our longstanding “Family Day” series, now called “Celebration Series,” has always been free to the public. MAGconnect, begun in 2016, is our ongoing effort to provide transportation for people who don’t have access to it, making it easier for them to visit the MAG and for us to warmly welcome them when they arrive.”

In January, The Strong museum announced an admission benefit for SNAP recipients. The Rochester Museum and Science Center and the George Eastman Museum also offer similar benefits.
