Abby Wambach, the Pittsford native and internationally known soccer star, has another honor. She was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame on Saturday in Frisco, Texas, near Dallas.

Wambach is the all-time leading goal scorer in women’s international soccer with 184 goals. She also played in four World Cup matches, winning one in 2015, and participated in two Olympic games.

In her speech on Saturday,  Wambach talked about the satisfaction she has gotten over the years watching her sport grow.

“So the thing that I am most proud of is to be a part of that building , to be a part of the growth of this game, so that the millions of kids, girls especially have somewhere to look and actually see themselves potentially being,” Wambach said.

Wambach said that one of her goals is to see women’s soccer become a major league sport in the U.S.
