Teen shot and killed in Rochester on Saturday has been identified

UPDATE On Sunday evening, Rochester Police have now identified the individual who died as Christopher Wood, 18, Rochester. The 14-year-old who was with him has since been treated and released from the hospital.

Rochester Police said a young teen was shot and killed on Genesee Street Saturday afternoon and another person was injured in the shooting.

The shooting happened at about 1:20 p.m. When police responded, they found a male in his early teens, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at Strong Memorial Hospital about an hour later. His name has not been released yet.

Police said shortly after the initial call about gunfire, a 14-year-old male arrived at Strong in a private vehicle. He suffered at least one gunshot wound and his injuries are described as non-life threatening.

Police said that the victims were walking together down the sidewalk on Genesee Street near Earl Street when a suspect or suspects fired multiple gunshots at them.
