A Winter Weather Advisory for area counties was cancelled Thursday morning, but still, conditions are expected to become more challenging for drivers later on Thursday into Friday, and generally for anyone spending time outdoors.
For the immediate Rochester metro, News 8 meteorologist Josh Nichols says expect some slight snow during the day on Thursday, but some snow squalls may develop by afternoon along with sharply colder air. Josh says 2 to 4 inches are likely by sunset with a high of 33.
Thursday night will see bands of lake snow, and snow squalls in some places. Accumulations will vary, with another 2 to 4 inches of snow and 6 inches or more possible in the heaviest squalls and snow bands overnight. The low Thursday night will be about 10 degrees.
Friday will see bitter cold, with a high in the low and mid-teens, and some lake snow, mainly north and east of Rochester.
Saturday’s forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and a high of 30 and Sunday will see a chance of light snow, maybe mixed with some rain and a high of 40.
