The new CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester will outline her vision at an event tonight at the Riverside Convention Center.
Meredith Dragon took over the leadership position in April after serving as the head of the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts for seven years.
One of her goals is to recruit younger leaders for the organization.
"We've had some wonderful success," she said. "We have some great, young leaders who are participating around the table, who are board members, but we don't have enough of them. We need to make some space for them and we need to listen to where they're coming from."
Dragon says conversations about Israel are challenging today and college campuses can be rough places for Jewish students.
"The BDS movement - boycott divestment and sanctions - is rampant on college campuses. Being able to tackle the issues as a community and to be able to focus our attention on not what pulls us apart related to Israel, but what brings us together and helping to make sure we create a safe space for our students on college campuses is an important part of the message."
Dragon will announce an annual campaign goal of $5 million at tonight's event. That's a little more than 20-percent over last year's goal.
Tonight’s sold out event includes a performance by Israeli singer/songwriter David Broza.
