Leaders of the Tower280 at Midtown project in Rochester say they will be ready to welcome new residential tenants next month.
The first 15 residential tenants are scheduled to move in the 15th of January, followed by 18 more in February. One hundred forty eight apartments are still available for lease.
Tower280 also has commercial tenants lined up, including Bergmann Associates and Branca Italian Restaurant.
Ken Glazer of Buckingham Properties says this redevelopment project is really important to him, on a personal level, because it was his father Larry Glazer's swan song.
"He loved this project. It's what he did. He loved taking buildings apart and putting them back together. This is a really big fun one for him and for all of us at Buckingham. We know that it's really important for his legacy and for ours, to continue it and finish it at the quality that Larry would like it to be done."
The project was put on hold when Larry Glazer was killed in a plane crash in 2014.
But now, Tower280 at Midtown is nearing completion.
Heidi Zimmer-Meyer is the President of the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation. She says these residents will contribute to economic growth.
"Everyone that moves in this building is part of a new growing market in center city for all kinds of goods and services."
Zimmer-Meyer says the building will also provide tax revenue for the city, which could also spur growth.
