County Executive Maggie Brooks announced Ontario Beach Park is open for the season.
From now until the end of summer, if you call the Ontario Beach hotline (585-753-5887) after 9:00am, a recorded message will give you beach conditions, water temperature, and whether or not the beach is open that day.
Lifeguards are on duty from 11:00am-7:00pm, and people are invited to swim if the conditions allow it.
Larry Staub is the Director of Parks for Monroe County. He says they are diligent about testing the water, and that Monroe County Health Department takes daily samples.
"If we are open, and the lifeguards are on duty, people can rest assured that the water is safe and it's a great place to spend the day that day."
Staub says even if beaches are closed to swimming, people should still consider taking full advantage of this natural resource. Ontario Beach Park is open until Labor Day Weekend.
