Teen Burned In Penfield Fire Dies From His Injuries

TWC News

Monroe County Deputies confirm for WXXI News that a 16 year old boy severely burned in a garage fire in Penfield early Sunday morning has died of his injuries.

Deputies say just before 3:30 a.m. the Webster Fire Department responded to 8 Peregrine Way in Penfield for a garage fire. Firefighters found the garage on fire just off Jackson Road near the Webster border.

Deputies say a female heard the smoke alarm and found a refrigerator and the teenager in the fire in the garage. They say it appears the fire began at the fridge, but the cause of the fire has not been determined yet.

The teen was taken to Strong Hospital and was pronounced dead late Sunday afternoon. He is now identified at 16 year old Alexander Fitzpatrick.

There was some smoke damage to the house and the Red Cross is helping the family out until they can go back in the home.
