Two community groups are holding a meeting Monday night to learn more about Rochester's development plans for the Port of Charlotte.

The meeting is being held by The Charlotte Community Association in cooperation with the Port of Charlotte Merchants Association.

The city recently decided to go with a development proposal from a company called Edgewater, which is a $77 million proposal that would include a hotel, restaurant, conference facilities and other amenities, as well as around 120 condos and 50 townhouses. That was a larger proposal than one from a different developer, and some people in the Charlotte area have raised objections.

The community groups meeting Monday night say that they have invited the city's Manager of Environmental Quality to come to the 7:00 p.m. meeting taking place at the Roger Robach Community Center on Beach Avenue. Representatives of the groups feel the city needs to answer any questions about the selection process used in picking a developer.
