The Rochester General and Unity Health systems have formally released the new name for the organization that will combine both hospitals. It will be called " Rochester Regional Health System "
That name was announced Wednesday to 14,000 physicians, nurses, caregivers and support staff. Even though the corporate entity is getting a new name, each hospital will still keep its original name. No new logo has been released yet.
Officials say the new name was chosen after getting extensive input from staffers as well as doing consumer market research across the region.
The interim co-CEO's, Mark Clement of RGH and Warren Hern of Unity say the patients of the two hospital systems will not see major changes or any compromises in the care they are accustomed to receiving.
A search for a new permanent CEO is underway and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
