NEW YORK (AP) _ Members of New York's state Assembly are reviewing the state's role in caring for children who enter the country illegally without their parents.
The lawmakers are scheduled to take testimony from the public at a meeting Tuesday in New York City.
The panel is looking at the level of services the state provides to the children, who are sometimes declared charges of the state while they await immigration and deportation proceedings.
According to the Assembly, more than 90,000 children will be detained and face deportation this year after crossing the nation's southern border illegally.
