Top Rochester officials met Monday to talk about major city projects that developer Larry Glazer has been involved with, following the plane crash last week that took the life of Glazer, and his wife Jane, an entrepreneur who headed up a catalog company.
Del Smith, Rochester's Commissioner of Neighborhood and Business Development, says he and other officials at City Hall are confident that projects that are either in the pipeline, such as the efforts to redevelop Midtown Tower and nearby buildings, will move on to completion.
"A precursory look at these projects and discussions with partners would have us in the city conclude that there's no reason to be concerned; That this is not a chaotic period, this is not a period of high uncertainty in terms of how we're moving forward."
Smith says that Glazer had a solid team in place at Buckingham Properties, the company he headed, and he also notes that there were other developers besides Glazer, such as Morgan Management, involved in some of these projects.
Officials at Buckingham released a statement on the company's Facebook page, saying that while they continue to need time to grieve, they are committed to fulfilling the legacy Larry Glazer began about 40 years ago. The company also says it appreciates the outpouring of support from the community over the last few days.
