Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks and Rochester Mayor-Elect Lovely Warren laid out their economic development plans to the business community Tuesday.
The annual Vision-Future luncheon was co-hosted by the Rochester Downtown Development Corporation and the Rochester Rotary Club.
The event allows elected officials to share their upcoming priorities with the business community.
Brooks says the region's top priority is the expansion of the Eastman Business Park.
She says there are hundreds of square feet available for manufacturing, warehouse and office space at the Park.
"We have an opportunity to run with that infrastructure to use that as a benefit to leverage new opportunity. Today there are 28 companies in the park, over 6500 work in the Eastman Business Park and Monroe county has been a proud partner in the renovation and revitalization of that park and it continues."
Brooks also spoke about the importance of MCC’s downtown campus. She says that campus contributes 110-million dollars to the local economy annually.
Mayor-elect Warren was unable to make the luncheon because she is attending a mayor’s conference at Harvard University.
However, through a video presentation Warren says she plans to create a small business advisory council as well as work on meaningful employment for the city.
Mayor Tom Richards was recognized during the luncheon for his service to the city. He received a standing ovation.
