The 2012 New York Republican Party State Convention will be held in Rochester.

State GOP leaders announced the city will host the event this spring, although a specific date was not announced. The convention is typically held in late May or early June.

"This is a great opportunity to highlight the strength of the Republican Party in Upstate New York and is the first time in recent memory that our convention will be held outside of New York City," says Monroe County GOP Chairman Bill Reilich.

Republicans are likely to choose a candidate to face U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in the fall.
