New Yorkers are feeling better about the economy than they have in seven years, according to the latest survey by Siena College.
Pollster Doug Lonnstrom said a number of factors are behind the more upbeat mood for consumers.
"The stock market is hear record highs and the job reports have been good-over 300,00 last month-and gas prices are a big factor, way down, particularly upstate; and the housing market is looking better,” Lonnstrom said.
The consumer sentiment index stands at 84-points statewide, up more than five points from the last survey in June.
Seven-percent of those surveyed said they plan to buy a house within the next six months.
One category that still has 69-percent of New Yorkers concerned is the cost of groceries.
