Community leaders cut the ribbon on a new business in Rochester’s East End this Thursday.
The recently opened City Grill and Ballroom 384, on the corner of East and Alexander, received County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency benefits and a low-interest loan from the city.
City Council Member Elaine Spaull says projects like this one help reinvent Rochester.
"We have city centers. And this is a city center. And it was unsettled; it was lost," said Spaull. "And like a person that was having a bit of an identity crisis, this corner was having a bit of an identity crisis."
Spaull praised the new business as a great addition to the community that will help give the community the identity it's seeking.
Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks says the restaurant and ballroom add to the area’s livability.
"Any time you add an amenity, like a restaurant, a hotel, an option for who live here and visitors, you're adding to our quality of life," said Brooks. "Certainly, these amenities are very, very important if we're going to attract people to our community."
City Grill owners report they’ve hire 75 people to work in their business.
