Costco Wants To Locate In Rochester

Costco, the huge warehouse club chain is coming to Rochester. Officials with the CityGate project, which spans parts of Rochester and Brighton, announced Wednesday that Costco is proposing a 150,000 square foot operation near Westfall and East Henrietta Roads in the city.

Officials with Anthony Costello & Son Development say the new warehouse club would result in $30 million in private investment and 250 to 300 jobs.

Terms of the deal for Costco to occupy more than 15 acres at CityGate are still under negotiation and City Council also needs to approve some changes.

Current plans are for the demolition of existing buildings at that site within two months and construction to begin as soon as possible to allow for an opening in late spring of 2014.

The CityGate project plans also include a hotel, 300 residential units and additional retail and commercial space.
