NYS hospitalizations due to COVID-19 drop to new low

The first cases of COVID-19 were located in Wuhan, China in December of last year. Within months, the novel coronavirus responsible for the disease has spread across the globe. In Monroe County 364 people have died of COVID-19 to date.

The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations statewide have dropped to the lowest level since the pandemic began, according to data released by Gov. Andrew Cuomo Saturday. There were 371 hospitalizations statewide, the previous record-low was 410 on September 5, 2020.

Cuomo added that less than 100 patients are in the ICU.

The seven-day average COVID-19 positivity rate for the Finger Lakes region is now down to .40%.

In the Finger Lakes, the percentage of people with at least one vaccine dose is 56.7%.  The percentage with the completed series is 53.2%.
