In the latest WXXI Business Report, it's speculation no more, as Gannett and GateHouse Media, two media giants with local roots announced a merger plan. Gannett owns the Democrat and Chroncile and was founded in Rochester, while GateHouse is based in Perinton and owns publications across the country including the Rochester Business Journal and the Messenger Post in Canandaigua.
Also, a new survey on small business employment shows some growth in wages, plus the local home builders association is encouraging young people to consider a career in the skilled trades.
