IDEX to add jobs as part of high-tech expansion in Henrietta

Empire State Development

IDEX Health & Science, a photonics manufacturer, has officially opened its new ‘Optical Center of Excellence' in Henrietta.

The facility is located on John Street, and officials say it will support the company’s life science, semi-conductor, and defense businesses.

Empire State Development, New York’s economic development agency, says that IDEX had considered moving its operations out of the state.  But now, they say that IDEX is retaining 186 jobs and creating at least 34 new positions.

As part of the expansion, IDEX installed new equipment and clean room space at the new 100,000 square foot site.

To encourage that expansion, Empire State Development will provide up to $2.4 million through the Excelsior Jobs Program in exchange for job creation commitments.

The New York Power Authority is also supporting the expansion with a power allocation from the  ReCharge NY program which provides qualifying businesses and organizations with discounted power in exchange for job commitments.
