Eleven more companies have decided to expand, or locate in New York State as part of the START-UP NY program, including two in the Rochester area.
That program allows participating companies to operate free of state and local taxes at sites that have ties to the state’s colleges and universities.
The local companies just signing onto the program include ClearCove Systems. That is a renewable energy company that will locate its headquarters to the RIT downtown campus and create 23 jobs while investing nearly $4 million.
The other company is Precision Optical Transceivers. They make equipment used by cable and telecommunications networks. They are currently operating in Brockport and will locate new employees to the SUNY Brockport MetroCenter in Rochester. Precision Optical will create eight jobs and invest about two million dollars in the operation.
