Arrival of Spring coincides with Persian New Year

Shahin Monshipour

When the Vernal Equinox ushers Spring into the Northern Hempisphere at 5:58 p.m. on Wednesday, Persians around the world will mark the start of a new year.

The Feldman Ballroom at the University of Rochester is the setting for a celebration from 4 to 7 p.m. featuring tea, dance, music, and speakers who will talk about the history of Nowruz, the name for the Persian New Year.
